  • Replacement of almost 70% of damaged roof

Construction of Studio Apartment for Midwives

The highlight of 2011 was the provision of large studio apartment for midwives deployed to the health centre by the Midwives Service Scheme (MSS), a federal government initiative in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate.

Studio Apartment

The key to the apartment was handed over to the MSS representative at a ceremony attended by senior local government officials, Awoyaya community representatives, family and trustees of the Foundation. The apartment, located within the grounds of the PHC, has greatly relieved accommodation problem of the midwives, who hitherto, were ‘squatting’ within the health centre.

Supporters of the Foundation

The following Items were donated to the Health Centre by the Foundation

  • A refrigerator for medicines and injections.
  • Medical devices – blood pressure machine and baby monitors for pregnant women.
  • Medical consumables – baby cord clamps, catheters, swabs, drapes etc.
  • Mattresses.

Installation of a Culvert

There was no direct vehicular access to the health centre because of the drainage gutter to the front of premises. Planks were placed over the gutters and crossed by foot over the years.

The Foundation installed a culvert in February 2012 to the relief of everybody especially the pregnant women who found the planks most unsafe.

In 2013, the Foundation maintained support for the health centre. Members worked alongside the staff on busy Infant and Antenatal clinic days.  The Foundation regularly helps to maintain the Primary Health Centre premises.
